The Davis Academy’s Mission

The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy, an accredited Reform Jewish Day School, provides an academically challenging environment with enriched curricula, integrating general academics and Judaic studies from Mechina: Kindergarten Prep through eighth grade.

In a nurturing, secure environment, instructed by a faculty dedicated to excellence, children are encouraged to reach their highest potential.  The Davis Academy strives to create a community in which children develop a life-long love for learning and a commitment to Jewish life founded on morals, values, and ethics, grounded in Torah.

The School’s Philosophy

The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy, Atlanta’s Reform Jewish Day School, offers a uniquely integrated general and Jewish studies program that prepares students to function successfully in the secular world as informed and committed Jews.  The school is dedicated to helping its students discover and develop their talents and fulfill their greatest potential.

The education of the whole child is at the heart of The Davis Academy’s mission.  The school’s professional, caring staff seeks to challenge and enrich mind, body, and spirit while providing a strong academic program integrating Jewish values with a rigorous secular education.  A hands-on, experiential approach to teaching, coupled with a student centered learning environment, provides the ingredients for the success of every child.

The Davis Academy Colors, Mascot and Logo

The Davis Academy official color is teal .   The Davis Academy mascot is the lion. The Davis Academy logo represents several concepts.  On the most basic level, it symbolizes the Menorah – the most ancient of Jewish symbols.  The seven branched Menorah reminds us that God created the world in seven days.

On another level, The Davis Academy emblem represents a family standing together.  In Judaism, the family is at the core of all that we do.  Our families, large, small, extended, blended, are the mechanisms through which our Judaism comes alive.  A third interpretation of our emblem is that it represents a community standing together, shoulder to shoulder, united in one purpose.  Finally, our school emblem represents by its arc shape a horizon.  It is the horizon of tomorrow that beckons us forward.
