MEDIA CENTERS

Welcome to The Davis Academy Media Center

The Davis Academy houses two state-of-the-art media centers within its Lower and Middle School campuses. The Sylvia Breman Library located at the Lower School and the Edward H. Fields Media Center Located at the Middle School.

The mission of our media centers is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The media specialists provide instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas, and work with other educators to design teaching/learning strategies that meet the needs of all students, ultimately empowering them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.

In addition to providing connections to an extensive collection of both print and digital resources, the media center also hosts Book Fairs twice a year, Birthday Book Parties every other month, and book clubs for 4th – 8th grade students. Each book club has a blog that allows them to discuss the books in an online forum as well.

Our media specialists are active members of the Georgia Independent School Libraries network, the American Jewish Libraries Atlanta division, and routinely participate in the American Library Association’s professional development opportunities.

Parents are welcome to volunteer their time in the Lower School media center. If you are interested, please visit the PTO website for details regarding volunteer opportunities.
