Planned & Endowment Giving
The Davis Academy has excellent gift opportunities, known as planned gifts, which are individually tailored estate planning contributions that provide current tax advantages to donors while enhancing support for facilities, endowment, or school programs and creating a lasting legacy for the school. Planned giving options include Bequests, Insurance Policies, Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts.
Planned Giving Options:
Bequests: The simplest way to remember The Davis Academy in your estate plan is to specify a dollar amount or percentage of your estate that you would like to gift to The Davis Academy in your will. This can be done by simply adding the following paragraph to your will: I give, devise, and bequeath to The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy of Atlanta, Georgia, the sum of $_____ (or a percentage or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of The Alfred & Adele Davis Academy and its general purposes. A bequest can allow for an unrestricted gift, which allows The Davis Academy to use the gift where the school feels that it is needed the most. Or, through your bequest, you can restrict your gift to be used for a specific purpose such as financial aid, faculty development or student programs. You may also do a combination of both unrestricted & restricted giving should you wish to only earmark a portion of your gift to be used for a specific purpose.
Life Insurance and Retirement Asset Gifts: You may also consider naming The Davis Academy as a beneficiary of your life insurance, IRA, 401K, or other retirement plans. You will receive a charitable tax deduction for the cash value of the plan/policy and The Davis Academy will receive the future proceeds from the policy.

Increasing our endowment is vital to the health and well-being of The Davis Academy. Donations of any size may be made to Endowment Funds.
The school’s endowment funds act as “savings accounts” from which the school can draw interest income to support the annual budget. Donations to The Davis Academy’s endowment can fall into two categories:
- Restricted Endowment Funds support specific programs such as the arts, student programs, faculty development or need based financial aid.
- Unrestricted General Endowment Funds which give The Davis Academy the flexibility to allocate funds to meet our greatest, most pressing needs of our operating budget.
A Named Endowment Fund provides a way to celebrate the lives of generous donors, family friends, or any special group, forever linking their names to the mission and values of The Davis Academy. A $25,000 minimum gift amount is required to establish a Named Endowment Fund.
We welcome and encourage you to give an unrestricted gift to the endowment, to support one of our existing funds, or to create a named endowed fund of your own.
