Emily Brothman '2007

Emily Brothman graduated from North Springs in 2017 and earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland in 2021. She currently works as a 5th Grade Teacher in Washington, D.C. In addition to her teaching career, she is enrolled in a post-baccalaureate program for Speech-Language Pathology. She plays an active role in her community, planning and running her school's annual Community Service Night, coordinating donations with community partners, and organizing service activities. As a dedicated leader, she has served as head of her school's union for the past three years and is a member of the instructional leadership team.

At Davis, I developed a true love of learning—something that has stayed with me and shaped my career. Now, as a teacher, I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to help students expand their minds and discover their own love of learning.

I also use my Davis Hebrew lessons daily, as many of the students at my school are from Israel. In fact, our Israeli student community is so strong that they even refer to their apartment complex as the 'Kibbutz.' To support my brand-new students adjusting to life in the U.S., I’ve learned to partially instruct math, science, and social studies in Hebrew, helping to ease their transition and make learning more accessible.

One of my favorite Davis memories was participating in the school plays—an experience that brought so much joy and creativity to my time there.

Looking back, Davis didn’t just give me a great education—it helped me realize how much I loved school. That passion led me to become a teacher, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the foundation Davis provided.
