My Davis Story: Jeremy Schube, Class of 2002

"There are very few places in life that truly shape who we become. For me, The Davis Academy was one of those places. It was more than just a school, it was a second home, a community, and a foundation that helped define my childhood. As an alumnus, returning now as a parent and watching my own children walk the same halls I once did is both surreal and deeply meaningful.

One of the most remarkable things about returning to The Davis Academy as a parent is seeing how much the school has evolved while still remaining true to its core identity. In many ways, the school has changed tremendously. The campus has grown, the programs have expanded, and the opportunities available to students today are extraordinary. There is a continued commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and preparing students for the future.

And yet, despite all of those changes, so much still feels exactly the same in the best possible way. The warmth is still there. The sense of community is still there. The values that made Davis special when I was a student continue to define the experience today. There is still a feeling that every child matters, every relationship matters, and every family is part of something larger than themselves. That spirit is difficult to describe unless you have experienced it firsthand, but it is immediately recognizable when you walk through the doors.

Watching my own children create memories in the same place where I created mine has given me an entirely new appreciation for the school. There is something incredibly emotional about seeing them play in the gymnasium, sit in classrooms, and build friendships in the same environment that helped shape me years ago. It creates a connection across generations, a reminder that some places leave a permanent imprint on us.

The Davis Academy is special not simply because of its academics or facilities, but because of its people and its culture. It is a place where students are known, where traditions matter, and where lifelong memories are created every single day. For me, it will always be far more than just a school. It is part of my story, and now it is becoming part of my children’s story as well. That continuity, that sense of belonging and shared experience, is something truly rare and deeply meaningful. I am and will be forever grateful to the Davis Academy for shaping me into the person I am today and continuing that excellence for my children. l’dor va dor.”
