My Davis Story: Lauren Miller Brekke, Class of 2002

As a Davis alumna, choosing Davis for our son was honestly a no-brainer. We wanted an exceptional school first and foremost, but we also wanted him to receive a meaningful Jewish education in a community where Jewish values are lived every day. What has impressed us most is that Davis truly meets children where they are instead of expecting every child to fit into the same box.

Our son entered Mechina incredibly shy and timid. Through the encouragement and individualized support of his teachers, he has grown into a confident, adventurous child who isn't afraid to raise his hand, try new things, or step outside his comfort zone. That transformation has been incredible to watch.

Academically, Davis has exceeded every expectation. The strength of the secular education has blown me away. I'm still amazed by the depth and quality of the work he brings home, and I couldn't believe he was already reading and writing in Mechina. His teachers make learning exciting while challenging each child to reach their full potential.

As a Davis alumna, it has also been incredibly special to reconnect with friends I grew up with who are now fellow parents. The community has enriched our entire family. I often say that Davis played a significant role in reinforcing my own Jewish identity and passion for spreading Jewish light in the world, and it is a privilege to watch that same foundation being built in my son. Davis isn't just shaping an excellent student—it is helping shape a kind, confident, and proud Jewish person.
