Dear Davis Friends,
My Davis journey began in August of 2010. That was when my oldest child, Ella, started kindergarten at The Davis Academy. I held it together while I dropped her off in the morning carpool, and then the tears poured out. Had Justin and I chosen the right school for her? Would she be appropriately challenged academically while still being nurtured at such a young age? Would it feel too Jewish? While I was so focused on if the Davis Academy would be the right fit for Ella, what I wasn’t aware of yet was how much this decision was truly a decision for my entire family including myself and Justin. When you choose a school for your child, you are also choosing a community for your family to belong to.
Fast forward thirteen years, Ella and Avery have both graduated from Davis and my son, also named Davis, is in eighth grade. It’s hard to believe how fast these years have flown by. I can still vividly recall sitting on the floor every Friday morning for Shabbat, attending the beautiful Kabbalat HaSiddur mornings in second grade, and singing along at the Israel send offs for 8th grade. These are memories my family will cherish for years to come. I am so thankful for the types of young adults my children are becoming. This is in large part due to their teachers' love and guidance over the years.
Leading by example, these teachers have instilled guiding principles to live by and Jewish values through the history of our people. They have taught my children that they have a choice, to believe in themselves and to advocate respectfully. For these gifts and so much more I am forever grateful. And they will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you to The Davis Academy for everything you have done for our family. I am so honored to be part of the 30th celebration. I look forward to many years to come where others can be part of this amazing community that will make an imprint on their heart.
