Fifth graders were thrilled to Zoom with author Carol Matas from her home in Winnipeg, Canada. Students learned about her experience as a novelist and her reasons for writing “The War Within”, a historical fiction book, which takes place during the Civil War and tells the story of a Jewish Confederate family forced out of their home in Holly Springs in Mississippi.
