When a child enters The Davis Academy, an educational experience begins that lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning and discovery.

Welcome to The Davis Academy. As the Director of Admissions, I know that selecting the next school for your child is a very important decision for your family. The right school creates happiness in your child’s life, introduces a love of learning and helps a child feel comfortable in the larger community.

Here at The Davis Academy, our outstanding teaching staff strives to enrich the mind, body and spirit, providing a learning environment that is both nurturing and challenging for your child. From Kindergarten Prep (four and young five year-olds) through Middle School, we use a hands-on experiential approach and innovative teaching methods that promote collaborative, active learning. With The Davis Academy foundation, our students have the ability to reach their highest potential and develop a clear focus on what they can do to make a difference in the world.

We have found that the best way to understand the magic that happens within the walls of our school is to come for a visit, meet the faculty, walk the hallways and hear the sounds of children learning and laughing. So please, take the time to review our website, and then give me a call to set-up a private tour.

I look forward to meeting with you and your family.

Who is eligible for the Kindergarten Prep (Mechina) Program?
The Kindergarten Prep (Mechina) program is designed for students who are four and five years of age who are ready for a challenging, full day, dual language, academic program in a school setting. Whether it’s a child’s pre-kindergarten year or a transitional year, Mechina uniquely prepares children for Kindergarten and beyond.

Are there any required visits for me and my child?
Mechina and Kindergarten applicants visit The Davis Academy two times during the admissions process. During one of the visits, the child will participate in a screening for school readiness and during another visit the child will attend a group session with teachers and other applicants.

Students applying to First through Fifth grades spend a regular school day at The Davis Academy. During this visit, the student will participate in a screening that identifies learning styles. Also, the classroom teacher will assess reading, math and writing skills.

For Mechina through Fifth grade applicants, the screenings are incorporated into the school visit(s) and will be administered by a psychologist on site.

Candidates applying for sixth through eighth grade spend a regular school day at The Davis Academy. As part of the Admissions process, middle school applicants are asked to take the SSAT to test for math, verbal and quantitative ability and achievement.

How is acceptance determined?
A combination of factors are considered during the admissions process: the screenings, both individual and group (or visit in classroom for grade 1+), reading, writing, and math assessments for 1+, the previous school records, the teacher recommendation form and SSAT scores for sixth through eighth grade applicants. There is limited space at all grade levels and typically more applications are received than space available.
Does The Davis Academy offer tuition assistance?

The Davis Academy’s Tuition Assistance Fund provides grants for qualified students based on the financial needs of the family with the goal of ensuring that a Davis Academy education is accessible to our diverse community. Approximately 1/3 of our students receive some amount of tuition support annually. The Davis Academy uses FACTS, an impartial Grant & Aid Assessment company located in Lincoln, Nebraska, to assess demonstrated need, which takes into account several factors, including how many children are enrolled at the school.
