COVID-19 Updates
The Davis Academy has successfully operated in-person school beginning August 17, 2020 and throughout the pandemic. With great spirit we continue to work alongside the medical experts who serve on the school’s Health & Safety Committee, prioritizing not only the physical health but also the social and emotional well-being of our children, with an eye toward evolving COVID-19 practices and protocols as our experiences with and knowledge of the virus progress. The goal of mitigating the risk of COVID-19 transmission within the school remains our priority while allowing students to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and physically in our collaborative learning environment.
School administration relies on the recommendations of our Davis Health & Safety Committee, community data, access to vaccines and scientific information from health officials and agencies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Georgia and Fulton County Departments of Health.
With the dedication and professionalism of our faculty and staff and the trust and commitment of our parents, we ensure a safe and nurturing learning environment for our children. While we have recalibrated our approach from last year extensively to include most aspects of a “typical” school year, maintaining certain protocols has served us well. In addition, and perhaps most impactful is the tremendous enthusiasm that our Davis community has demonstrated toward our efforts to encourage and enable vaccinations through on-site clinics. The school adopted a vaccination policy requiring its employees to be vaccinated and our overall vaccination rate among eligible Davis students is over 90%.
Together we are:
- Showing kavod (respect) to the medical experts, to our school administrators, to our faculty and staff and to one another by following the policies and practices designed to protect our collective health
- Resilient, flexible and patient, understanding that our plans and expectations reflect the trajectory of the virus, the impact on our local community, the evolving expert medical guidance, and the need for adjustments in our protocols
- Committed to our values—respect, community, wisdom, righteousness and spirit—showing understanding and support of temporary changes in campus life
- Sharing Davis L.O.V.E. - Living Our Values Every Day - on and off campus, and maintaining our warm and caring sense of community
